Vietnamese Defense Minister visits Cuba

Vietnamese Defense Minister visits CubaHAVANA, Cuba, Jun 5 (ACN) Army General Ngo XuanLich, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Minister of Defense, is in Cuba on a three-day official visit.

This Monday, General Ngo paid tribute to Cuban hero Lieutenant General Antonio Maceo and his assistant Captain Francisco Gómez Toro.
In El Cacahual, where the remains of both patriots rest, Ngo was received by the member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Army General Alvaro López Miera, first deputy minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) and chief of the General Staff.
During the solemn ceremony, López Miera detailed to the high official and to the delegation that accompanies him the decisive participation of Maceo in the struggles for the independence of Cuba, and its historical legacy to the new generations.
The Vietnamese Defense Minister has a program that includes official talks at the MINFAR, visits to military units and the FAR General Maximo Gomez Academy, where he will give a conference to senior leaders And students of the center.
Speaking to the press, Ngo expressed satisfaction in visiting Cuba, and thanked the leaders of both countries for having fostered the special relations of friendship, brotherhood and unity that they currently enjoy.
He stressed that all generations of Vietnamese will always remember the phrase expressed by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro when he said: for Vietnam, Cubans are willing to give up our own blood.
That phrase left many special feelings in our town, and it was a stimulus to continue the fight against our enemies.
The Vietnamese Defense Minister also evoked the image of Fidel in Quang Tri Province in 1973, when he raised the flag One hundred battles, one hundred victories, of the National Liberation Army of South Vietnam.
Our responsibility, emphasized the distinguished visitor, is to continue developing and building special relationships between the two brotherly peoples.
The purpose of the current visit is to strengthen relations in the area of Defense, especially in the implementation of the agreement (2017-2019) signed by both parties in this area, said the Vietnamese minister.
