Cuba and IAEA sign technical cooperation agreement

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 2 (ACN) Cuba and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) signed a technical cooperation agreement in Vienna for the coming years, Prensa Latina news agency reported.

The document, entitled National Program Framework with the IAEA for technical cooperation with Cuba, was signed by the president of the Agency of Nuclear Energy and Technologies of Advanced of the Caribbean country, Daniel López, and the Deputy Director General of Technical Cooperation of UN the agency, Dazhu Yang.
Cuba's Minister of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma), Elba Rosa Perez, attended the ceremony, which was also attended her deputy Minister, Jose Fidel Santana, the Cuban ambassador in Austria, Juan Antonio Fernández, and other members of the delegation that accompanies her.
This new document sets out national priorities in specific areas of greatest benefit in terms of technical cooperation between Cuba and IAEA, including radiological safety, food and agriculture, human health and nutrition, water and environment and energy and industry .
The Program Framework reinforces the commitments of both parties to continue to promote Technical Cooperation projects for Cuban development, says the news agency.
