Cuban lawmakers make comprehensive review of Party documents

Cuban lawmakers make comprehensive review of Party documentsHAVANA, Cuba, May 31 (ACN) Representatives of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP) held a detailed review of key documents of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC by its Spanish acronym) for the country's economic and social development on Wednesday.

The Standing Committee for Education, Sports, Science and Technology and for Children, Youth and Women's Rights, were merged into one of the four working groups that met this day, prior to the second extraordinary session of the VIII Legislature of Parliament.
Esteban Lazo, president of the ANPP, led the analysis of parliamentarians of the texts of the Conceptualization of the Cuban Economic and Social Model of Socialist Development, the Bases of the National Socioeconomic Development Plan until 2030, and the updating of the Guidelines for Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution.
According to Lazo these documents "shape the socialist future of the nation," adding that they are not static content but can be subject to change when issues arise both in the domestic and international scenarios.
He pointed out that the concepts within the Conceptualization constitute a guide of work from the economic, political and social point of view, for the model of development of the country.
The legislator for Santiago de Cuba, Eduardo Torres-Cuevas, added that the political culture of the people was born of education, and argued that this program document should explain the strength of that sector, not only for internal training, but in opposition to enemy propaganda, and the character of enemy aggressions in the ideological, cultural and scientific field.
The texts approved on May 19 by the Central Committee of the PCC in its Third Plenary were previously debated by more than one million 600 thousand Cubans, among them militants of the Party and the Young Communist League, as well as representatives of the mass organizations and other sectors of society.
From the consultation process, the greatest of such events in the history of the country, emanated 208,161 proposals.
