President Raul Castro Meets with FARC-EP DelegationHavana, Cuba, May 11 (acn) Cuban President Raul Castro met on Thursday in Havana with the delegation of the Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces – People´s Army (FARC-EP), headed by Commanders Timoleon Jimenez, Ivan Marquez, Pastor Alape, Joaquin Gomez, Carlos Antonio Lozada, Mauricio Jaramillo, Bertulfo Alvarez and Ricardo Tellez, members of the FARC-EP Secretariat.

Both sides exchanged on the peace process in Colombia and the meeting held this week in Havana between FARC-EP and the Colombian National Liberation Army (ELN).

The delegation of the FARC-EP express gratitude for Cuba's valuable support in its condition as Guarantor and site of the negotiation process between the Colombian government and FARC-EP for almost 5 years and as a result achieved the signing of the Peace Accord between both sides after 52 years of armed confrontation.

In addition to Cuba, Norway was also a Guarantor and Chile and Venezuela were also involved in the process.

The Cuban President reaffirmed the island´s commitment to continue supporting the complex implementation process of the accord, which is an important step in the construction of a stable and lasting peace in Colombia and the consolidation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.

In addition, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra Diaz and Rodolfo Benitez Verson, Guarantor in the peace process between the Colombian government and FARC-EP were present at the encounter.
