Ecuadoran President Pays Tribute to Jose Marti in HavanaLa Havana, Cuba, May 5 (acn) Ecuadoran President Rafael Correa paid tribute on Friday in Havana to Cuba's National Hero Jose Marti accompanied by First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez.

Correa placed a floral wreath before the bust of Jose Marti inside the Memorial at Revolution Square with the presence of representatives from both countries and Ecuadoran diplomats accredited in Havana.

According to the official program, Correa is to meet with Cuban President Raul Castro and receive the Jose Marti Medal, the highest distinction granted by the Council of State to foreign figures that have stood out for their extraordinary contributions to peace and humanity.

The Ecuadoran Head of State received Friday morning the Honorary Doctorate Degree from the University of Havana for being a revolutionary committed to the development of the peoples and Latin American unity.

After receiving the degree from the University of Havana, he spoke to students and offered a master conference at the Master Lecture Hall.
