Cuban Province receives International Support to improve Food ProductionLAS TUNAS, Cuba, May 5 (acn) The effort made in Las Tunas to guarantee a stable production of food, grains and vegetables has the financial support of a project and two international collaboration programs, which are materialized in several municipalities of the province.

Prodecor, a project of the International Fund of Agricultural Development (IFAD), provides technological resources valued at eight million euros, said Omar Perez, delegate of Agriculture in the territory.
Engines for tractors, last generation seeders and harvesters, and 70 irrigation systems began to yield their fruits in places of high productive potential, and in different structures of cooperatives.
Through the program ¨Mas alimento¨ (More Food), from Brazil, the province has also had access to modern machinery to accelerate the process of marabou clearing, land preparation and crop development.
The Republic of Vietnam introduces a program aimed at improving rice production, with the delivery of threshing machines, mills and dryers, and the training of technicians and producers.
Las Tunas´ arable land amounts to 6,000 hectares (ha) and this international technology and aid will provide the territory the support to exploit the almost two thousand ha of land remaining still unproductive
