Information on the May Day Rally in Havana

Havana, Cuba, Apr 25 (acn) Information on the May Day rally to be held in Havana's Revolution Square on Monday was informed on Tuesday at the Lazaro Pena Theater.

The organizers at the meeting ratified that the new generation will open the rally with a representation of the students from pedagogical schools and the Jose Antonio Echeverria Technological University.

Mai-Lin Alberti, First Secretary of the Young Communist League (UJC) in the province affirmed that members of the Hermanos Saiz Association will also participate as well as the Federation of Junior High School (FEEM) and University students (FEU); in addition to soldiers of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Interior Ministry and Computer Sciences University.

They will be a colorful and joyful section in this historic moment of the Revolution, said Alberti who reiterated that the Cuban youth will never betray the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.

Mariela Camacho Caballero, General Secretary of the Education, science and sports labor unions in Havana expressed that "Fidel will be present this International Workers Day in each men and women present in the rally, he will be our guide, example, loyal to his legacy because this May Day will be Fidel".

The General Secretary of the Cuban Workers Confederation (CTC) in Havana, Luis Manuel Castanedo informed that the rally will begin at 7:30am with the slogan, "Unity is our Strength", however people will begin mobilizing at 2:00am.

He pointed out that as usual, the people from the municipalities of Plaza de la Revolucion, Centro Havana, and Old Havana will walk to the Square while the remaining territories will use transportation destined for the rally.

The Second Secretary of the CTC, Carmen Rosa Lopez Rodriguez reiterated the importance of decorating the work centers and highlighted the confidence that the rally will be the best in history because the Cuban people will be remembering the leader of the Revolution.

Also attending the information meeting were the members of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party Susely Morfa Gonzalez, First Secretary of the National Committee of the UJC and Reinaldo Garcia Zapata, President of the Provincial Assembly of the Peoples Power.
