Cuban Parliament President meets with Spanish Communist leader

HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 22 (ACN) The President of the Cuban People´s Power Assembly (Parliament) Esteban Lazo received at the Havana´s Capitolio, the Secretary-General of the Spanish Communist Party José Luis Centella.

During the visit to the new headquarters of the Cuban Parliament, Centella held a meeting with its Vice-president Ana María Mari Machado, who congratulated the Spanish visitor for the Medal of Friendship bestowed on him by the Cuban Council of State.
Mari Machado explained to the visitor and his delegation the work of the Cuban Communist party and the People´s Power Assembly at all levels. She told them of the current period of reporting to the community undertaken by the legislators at grassroots level.
The Spanish communist leader said that the connection with the people is what makes a democracy strong and that in Europe it has lesser quality each passing day.
The Spanish delegation will be in Cuba through April 24th and has held meetings with the President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship Fernando Gonzalez and Suselys Morfa, first secretary of the Young Communist League
