Sugar production in Cuban province close to harvest plan

HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 20 (ACN) Sugar mills in the province of Ciego de Ávila are redoubling their efforts in the final stretch of the harvest and have already produced 181 thousand tons despite the drought.

The objective is to surpass the 193 thousand tons of crude reached in the previous harvest, with the maintenance of the Primero de Enero plants, Ciro Redondo and Ecuador, after the Enrique Varona González of the town of Chambas concluded its campaign.
Miguel Lima Villar, a specialist from the sugar company in the province, told ACN today that they are still harvesting sugar cane in the Camagüey municipalities of Vertientes, Florida and Esmeralda and bringing them to Ciego de Avila.
