Cuban Institutions to Promote a Study of its History

Havana, Cuba, Apr 7 (acn) The Ministry of Higher Education (MES) and specialized institutions in the field signed on Friday in Havana three agreements aimed at promoting the apprenticeship of Cuban history and the improvement of programs of the subject taught in the universities.

In an exclusive interview to ACN, Rafael Emilio Cervantes, Director of the Marxist-Leninist and History Departments of the MES pointed out that the new ties were established with the History Institute, Office of Historic Affairs of the Council of State and the Cuban Historians Association.

The cooperation agreement calls on a relation in which the MES offers the institutions the scientific potential, research work and opens the doors to higher education in order to jointly work in improving the programs, he said.

Referring to the extensive dimension of the relationship, he commented that these specialized centers will participate in the university activities, while offering its human capital in the formation of pre grade, upgrading of professionals and promote major interest for history research.

The directive highlighted the valuable archives of the specialized intuitions and highly praised the work of the Cuban Historian Association, especially its studies in local history.

Cervantes pointed out the need of the comprehensive formation of the future Cuban professors and its essential knowledge of the origins of the Homeland, values that have been defended throughout the years, traditions, political-ideological convictions and national identity.

Among the most important objectives of the agreements is the participation of specialists as consultants or authors in the elaboration and/or revision of books, in addition to promoting multimedia, virtual visits and informative bulletins for educational centers.

Another benefit of the cooperation will be the participation of young university students in the scientific events in addition to the possible reediting of the Marti Anecdote Works, La Epopeya del Granma and the History will Absolve Me by the Felix Varela Publishing House.
