Nicolas Maduro arrives in Cuba for ALBA-TCP Political CouncilHAVANA, Cuba, Apr 10 (ACN) Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro arrived Sunday in Havana city shortly after 9 pm to participate this Monday in the XV Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Treaty of Trade of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP).

At the José Martí International Airport, Maduro was received by Foreign Ministers Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla of Cuba and Delcy Eloína Rodríguez of Venezuela; as well as the ambassador to Cuba, Ali Rodriguez Araque.

Also present were the diplomatic corps of the South American nation accredited in Cuba.

In a complex regional political context and constant threats to the Bolivarian Revolution, the meeting to be held in Havana's Cubanacan Protocol Hall will ratify the final declaration adopted last month in Caracas during the XIV Extraordinary Summit of ALBA, to pay tribute to the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Commander Hugo Chavez, on the fourth anniversary of his passing.

The event will also reaffirm the commitment of the member states to the principles of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, approved by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in January 2014 in the Cuban capital.

Maduro´s government and its followers have received numerous examples of solidarity and support in recent days, following the attempt by the Organization of American States (OAS) to apply the Democratic Charter to Venezuela.

Strengthening unity and regional coordination capacity will be some of the objectives of the meeting.
