Foreign Students Graduate from School of Medicine in Ciego de Avila

Foreign Students Graduate from School of Medicine in Ciego de AvilaCiego de Avila, Cuba, Mar 30 (acn) As an example of the growing ties between Cuba and the rest of the world, 328 foreign students from over 60 countries are studying medicine at the Jose Assef Yara School of Medicine in Ciego de Avila province.

The head of the International Relations Department of the Medical School, Lourdes Alvarez Lopez told ACN during an activity commemorating Day of Palestinian Land, that this group of students include many from Arab nations. The school prioritizes these students because the majority are victims of marginalization in their places of origin.

Four Palestinians will graduate at the end of the school year, as part of many that have already graduated as doctors and health technologists in the last ten years.

Hamza Taradeh, currently in his 5th year in Medical School, expressed that his presence in Cuba has become a learning process, not only from the academic point of view, but also culturally, historic and language.

He says his dream is to return to the West Bank, his place of birth and improve the quality of life of the residents of that Palestinian city and that was the main reason why he wanted to become a doctor.

The commemoration was held at the Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) in Ciego de Avila where a plaque was unveiled dedicated to the support of the Palestinian cause.

Palestinian commemorate Day of the Land every March 30th. On that day in 1976, Israeli military forces shot against six young Palestinians during a protest against Israeli occupation.
