International Technology and Health Convention to be held in Havana

Havana, Cuba, Mar 23 (acn) The 3rd International Technology and Health Convention scheduled from March 27th to the 31st in Havana is aimed at promoting the development or research in the health system and services and establish cooperation ties between Cuban and foreign institutions.

The event, to be held at Havana's International Convention Center will promote the scientific-pedagogical and methodological exchanges for professionals and technicians that work in the sector, said Dr. Maria Lazo, Vice President of the organizing committee.

Dr. Lazo who is also the head of the Department of Science and Innovation Technology of the School of Health Technology expressed that the event also pretends to strengthen scientific, social and cultural ties.

Professionals, technicians, students and directives from Chile, Ecuador, Venezuela, Bolivia, Peru and Cuba are expected to participate, said Dr. Lazo.

The theme of the event is "For health, and development sustainability" and includes 13 congresses, symposiums, workshops and encounters, which will center on other issues like podiatry, technology of images, external fixators, health rehabilitation, nutrition and dietician and oral health.

An Optometrist and Optician Symposium and the 3rd International Encounter of Students in the Technical Areas of health will also be held.

As part of the Convention, a meeting will be held to reactivate the Central American and Caribbean chapter of the International Network of Education of Health Technicians with the participation of Cuban and foreign specialists.

Lazo recalled that spaces for scientific and academic exchanges among professionals, technicians and students that work in the field of health technology were created in the previous editions in 2009 and 2014.

The program contemplates issues like the development of technologies and the formation of professionals in all the areas of health technology, preparation of human resources of health technicians; in addition, students will have the opportunity to exchange experiences in scientific activities.
