Cuba to offer business opportunities in water resources management

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 23 (acn) The presentation of the portfolio of foreign investment opportunities of the Hydraulic Engineering and Logistics Business Group will today catch the attention of the delegates to Cubagua 2017 International Convention, which runs in this city until tomorrow.

The launch of the business possibilities of this Cuban entity will take place at Pabexpo, where a fair of water technologies and products is held in parallel with the great event, which involves 60 companies from 18 countries, including the host nation.
The company, belonging to the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH by its Spanish acronym), is currently involved in executions for the development of water capacity, agricultural activities and national defense, promotion of tourism and improvement of the aqueduct in 12 Cuban cities.
Representatives of agencies of the United Nations Organization in Cuba are expected to attend the event to talk about access to water and sanitation, as well as the role of water resources in sustainable use of land in addition to strategies for the comprehensive management of water losses in the nation.
Data provided by INRH show positive results in the reduction of leakage of the liquid by the aqueduct networks, from 58 percent in 2012 to 45 percent at present, however, the last figure is still considered high.
There will also be dealt topics such as water use in agriculture, a sector that consumes 60 percent of the pumped liquid.
Essential actions in the investment process of the rice program in Cuba, and the factors that affect the response of crops to water, are included in the agenda scheduled for today.
Cubagua 2017 is sponsored by INRH and the Society of Hydraulic Engineering of the National Union of Construction Architects and Engineers of Cuba, with the support of the Chapingo Autonomous University, Mexico, and other Cuban and foreign entities.
