Activities in Holguin for Cuban Press DayHAVANA, Cuba, Mar 8 (ACN) The photography exhibition "Fidel among Us" exposed in the Hermanos Saiz Association headquarters in the city of Holguin marked the beginning of activities commemorating Cuban Press Day as part of celebrations across the country on March 14th.

The exhibition shows a diverse Fidel in his work and outreach of his thinking, the concepts of each of the photographs taken of the leader of the Revolution are diverse.

There are classic photos together with other unedited shots that showed the human side of a man that loved to do underwater fishing, the man of the people that always had a smile or a joke to share in addition to the flexible and always visionary Comandante.

Felix Hernandez, President of the Cuban Journalists Association, UPEC, in the province of Holguin said that one of the premise of the current work of journalism is to be more dynamic and creative.

He added that journalism on the island must resemble the common citizen, we must watch over our publications, which must constitute a reflection of the concerns and daily tasks of the people.

The journalist pointed out that among the main activities celebrating Day of the Cuban Press is the encounter of the journalists with the media sources, intergenerational dialog and a visit to the Sao Corona Cave where the "Cubano Libre" daily was printed, which was the first independence publication on the island in the beginning of the independence war in 1868.

The Felix Elmuza distinction for 15 years of work in journalism will be given to outstanding journalists and the Abraham Portuondo Prize given to those that have dedicated their lives in the sector.

The Day of Cuban Press became about when the first publication of the daily Patria was circulated founded by Cuba's National Hero Jose Marti on March 14th 1892 aimed at promoting the work of the Cuban Revolutionary Party.
