HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 9 (ACN) A meeting on the investment opportunities in the oil sector in Cuba and exploration and exploitation projects, under the name Cuba Oil & Gas 2017, will wrap up this Thursday in Havana city.
The event had two rounds of exchanges among officials of the Cuban oil industry and representatives from the United States, Brazil, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, Australia, the United Kingdom, China and India, according to the organizers.
Cuba Oil & Gas 2017 was organized by the International Research Networks (IRN), and the Cuba Petroleo (CUPET) company, as well as the Cuban Ministry of Energy and Mining (MINEM).
Deputy Minister Rubén Cid Carbonell said the Cuban development program for the use of all available energy sources aims at achieving the energy independence of the country. It also tries to boost the oil industry and the use of the accompanying gases.
Entrepreneurs from 20 specialized companies from the 11 countries are holding exploratory talks, where foreigners received detailed explanations of the Foreign Investment Law that came into force in 2014 that offers tax and financing incentives for Direct Foreign Investment.
The participants will tour the oil fields ion Varadero, in the western province of Matanzas.
