SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Feb 1 (acn) A solar photovoltaic park is built in the town of Cañada Amarilla, in the municipality of Segundo Frente, in Cuba´s east province of Santiago de Cuba.
The Base Business Unit (UEB by its Spanish acronym) of this mountainous area, under Santiago Electric Company, assumes the work of the park that will deliver 2.4 megawatt / hour to the National Electoenergetic System from the use of sunlight.
Anael Chacón Blanco, chief operating officer of the UEB, told ACN that the photovoltaic park will benefit more than 13 000 clients, in the settlements of La Cañandonga, Los Maizales and Carbonera, among others.
Another solar photovoltaic park is planned to be built in the municipality of Mayari Arriba.
Two others of these facilities, with generation capacity of 4.4 megawatt/hours each, will start operating in the second half of this year, in this same Cuban province.
The Guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution raise the need to promote the use of different renewable sources of energy, including the solar one, giving priority to those with the greatest economic effect.
