HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 9 (ACN) The First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in Havana, Mercedes Lopez Acea said on Sunday in the Cuban capital that the Freedom Caravan (Cavarana de la Libertad) is eternal and will mark the path the history of the Revolution.
After ending the political-cultural activity with the entrance of the Caravan to Havana, held at Libertad School Complex, former Colombia military fortress, the also Vice President of the Council of State pointed out that its reenactment is a reflection of what is currently happening in the country, a representation of how the people follow the ideas of the leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro.
The Caravan will always be a sign of a new year of victories and the strengthening of a prosperous, sustainable and indestructible socialism, but above all, patriotic, loyal to Fidel and defender of the independence and dignity of humanity, said General Delsa Esther Puebla (Tete) who headed the route through Havana.
Coronel Eclio Lobaina, caravanista in 1959, told ACN the importance for the youth to continue the legacy of Fidel Castro aimed at a just world and full of solidarity.
The ceremony also included the announcement of 58 new members of the Young Communist League, UJC.
Leyanis Burgos said on behalf of the new member of the UJC, that joining the organization marks a road to dedication, dignity and patriotism that is only possible when we understand the meaning of the communist project we are constructing.
Meanwhile, Maylin Alberti, first secretary of the UJC in the municipality of Playa expressed that the new generation is conscious of the gestures of destabilization of the Revolution and Cuban youth will continue defending the Homeland and will never deceive Fidel.
Reinaldo Garcia Zapara, member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and President of the Provincial Assembly of the People's Power in Havana also participated in the ceremony in addition to representatives of political, students and grass roots organizations in the territory.
Before arriving to Havana Sunday morning, the Caravan participated in another political-cultural activity in the municipality of Cotorro, Mayabeque province with representatives of workers, pioneers, students, members of the Federation of Cuban Women and combatants.
The First Secretary of the Party in the municipality, Eva Hernandez thanks the leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro for guiding the Cuban people characterized by the figure of Antonio Maceo and the ideas of Jose Marti.
Afterwards the caravanistas traveled through the streets of Havana greeted by the residents until reaching the Libertad School Complex.
