Santi Spiritus city awaits Caravan of Freedom

Santi Spiritus city awaits Caravan of FreedomSANCTI SPIRITUS, Cuba, Dec 1 (acn) Just like 57 years ago, when the Caravan of Freedom passed through the province of Sancti Spíritus on its way to Havana, today it is seen in this city a multitude that wears the colors of the national and July 26 flags to receive Fidel, the Guerrilla of Time.

However, the faces look different because, unlike that January 6, 1959, on this day there is an infinite sadness, because the heaven and earth of Sancti Spíritus, as in all of Cuba, are overflowing with an unfathomable pain, that inner emptiness that fills every human being when someone loved says goodbye to the world.

The dew rises at sunrise and it seems that the whole nature cries, and maybe it is, because today the land of Major General Serafin Sánchez will raise its voice to make resonate: I am Fidel! Fidel lives! Ever onward to victory!

Since early in the day, thousands of people have arrived from all corners of Sancti Spíritus to ratify their support not only to the figure of the Commander-in-Chief, but to his greatest legacy: the Revolution.

On their faces you can see traces of tears, marks of these past days in which they all have suffered for the death of this great man who gave his life to the revolutionary struggle and to the sovereignty of the Caribbean island.

Meanwhile, in these hours in which the people of Sancti Spiritus are still waiting to pay tribute to the memory of Fidel, persons remember many of his words, actions, gestures, anecdotes ... and in that unanimous feeling, in that intimate mourning, it is known that an undisputed leader will never die and now everyone must follow the example of his moral stature.

What to do without Fidel? What will Cuba be without Fidel? These are questions left behind, because it is known that the Commander in Chief will continue in eternity, will remain alive in the soul and heart of every revolutionary person.

Today, the streets of Sancti Spiritus are inflamed by human warmth, by the sea of people waiting for the caravan that moves his ashes to Santiago de Cuba, because today the people are in the street to honor the immortal man and, although his death is a wound that never heals ... a wound that will continue bleeding in the skin of Cubans, we say: "Always with you, Commander! Simply give the order."
