HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 1(ACN) The Caravan of Freedom, the cortege carrying the ashes of Cuban leader Fidel Castro throughout Cuba, spent the night at the Santa Clara mausoleum where the remains of Che Guevara rest.
Thousands of people from that central Cuban city waited for the Caravan to arrive with Cuban and July 26 Movement flags, and stayed the night in a vigil, with several cultural activities.
The journey that started at 7 AM from the headquarters of the Cuban Ministry of the Armed Forces has recreated the same trip the Caravan of Freedom made in January 1959, from Santiago de Cuba
.
Cubans have gathered along the route chanting revolutionary slogans, amidst tears and in deep sorrow, flying flags and expressing their last tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban revolution that died last Friday.
The Caravan will continue its east-bound till Saturday at noon, when it will arrive in Santiago.
