Vietnamese President describes visit to Cuba as successful

Vietnamese presidentHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 18 (acn) Vietnam's President Tran Dai Quang described as successful his official visit to Cuba after a two-day stay in the Caribbean island.

Salvador Valdes Mesa, vice-president of the Council of State, went to José Martí International Airport to say goodbye to the Vietnamese president.

Speaking to the press, Dai Quang expressed confidence that after this first visit as a dignitary, relations between the two countries will be deepen and solidified, and economic ties should rise to the level of political ties.

According to the Vietnamese head of state, various issues in the economic and social fields, as well as international issues of mutual interest and world peace were addressed in the meetings with the highest authorities in Cuba.

Dai Quang´s visit to the Caribbean island also included a meeting with the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the official reception given by Raúl Castro Ruz, Cuba´s President.

The Asian dignitary was also decorated with José Martí Order, maximum recognition granted by Cuba´s Council of State, and attended the signing of legal instruments to consolidate bilateral economic bonds.

This was Dai Quang's first official visit to Cuba since taking office as head of state in his country on April this year.

Vietnam is Cuba's second largest trading partner in the Asia and Oceania region, and its main supplier of rice, not only through direct imports, but also through the promotion and development of food programs.
