HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 25 (acn) Cuban Foreign Minister (FM) Bruno Rodriguez arrived on Monday in New York for a new voting at the United Nations General Assembly -which will take place on October 26- on the need to lift the U.S. blockade against the Caribbean nation.
Rodriguez will participate on Wednesday in the plenary session of 193 countries, a forum in which over the last 24 years the economic, commercial and financial siege in force for over half a century now has been categorically condemned by the international community, the Radio Coco Web site reported on Tuesday in a report prepared with information taken from Cubadebate.
The resolution that will be submitted to the Assembly calls to the lifting of the unilateral sanctions, the economic damage of which the Caribbean nation estimates at several billions of dollars, considering the depreciation of that currency against the value of gold.
In 2015 the initiative obtained 191 of the 193 votes possible, a result that left the United States isolated once again, accompanied only by its ally Israel.
