HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 18 (acn) The Vice-president of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdes, arrived in Ecuador on Monday to take part in the Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, Habitat III, scheduled for October 18-20 in that South American country, announced the Cubaminrex Web site.
Upon his arrival at the Mariscal Sucre International Airport, Valdes was received by the Ecuadorian coordinating Minister of Science and Human Talent, Andres Arauz.
On behalf of the Cuban people and government, I bring greetings of fraternity and solidarity to the government and people of Ecuador and I thank you for your warm welcome to participate in the Habitat III World Conference, asserted Valdes.
For his part, Arauz thanked Valdes for Cuba's solidarity in all aspects and above all for being present and support the Ecuadorian coastal area after the earthquake of 7.8 on the Richter scale of April 16, which killed 671 people.
Habitat III will be a good opportunity to analyze challenges in urban and housing development of the 193 nations making up the United Nations Organization.
