HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 16 (acn) Cuban Parliament President Esteban Lazo received the President of the German Bundesrat (Federal Council), Stanislaw Tillich, who is on a visit to the island to boost economic relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, held on Friday in Havana, Lazo reiterated Cuba's gratitude towards Germany for its support for the Cuban people in its struggle against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than 50 years. He also explained aspects of national policy, among them the Cuban economic model, now in a process of updating.
Tillich expressed his appreciation for the welcome the Cuban people gave to the German delegation, and stressed that the Caribbean island lives an economic opening-up, which favors closer cooperation in the field of trade.
Likewise, he expressed his country's interest and the interest of the European Union of promoting bonds with Cuba, bonds that will benefit the two peoples.
After visiting Mexico, the President of the Federal Council of Germany arrived in this capital on Thursday to carry out several activities, which will end on Saturday.
