CAMAGUEY, Cuba, Aug 5 (acn). Around 300 megawatt per hour were saved by the state sector of the province of Camagüey in the month of July compared to the same period last year, however the figures for the residential sector slightly rose.
These results show the impact on the territory of the measures announced earlier this month by the Ministry of Economy and Planning at the National Assembly of People´s Power in Cuba, for saving energy carriers and the need to reduce costs in the economy of the country.
Yoleysys Lopez Chacon, commercial director of Camagüey Electric Company, told ACN that the regulations applied are mainly focused on reducing consumption in those entities exceeding their plans during the first semester of the year.
The official clarified that the percentages of reduction vary depending on the situation of each agency, and in no case it is expected that entities to affect their productions, on the contrary, it is looking for a higher level of efficiency and savings to avoid damage to the population.
A rational use of climate equipment, especially during noon and night, the daily reading of electric meters at workplaces and control by their upper bodies, and avoid using unnecessary office equipment are some of the measures taken.
The residential sector consumes 64 percent of the energy distributed in Camagüey, and in summer months and intense heat can carry out actions at home to contribute to the country's need to rationalize energy carriers, Lopez Chacon said.
The review of the report submitted to the National Assembly, published in Cubadebate, indicates that this rationalization and other measures were taken because Cuba faces a tense liquidity situation by falling of oil and nickel prices, and incompliance by sugar production, among other causes.
