Doctor Honoris Causa Title Conferred in Panama to Raul CastroHAVANA, Cuba, Jun 27(can) The title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Panama, conferred to the President of the Councils of State and Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, Raul Castro, was handed over today in emotional ceremony in that center of higher studies, reported Prensa Latina.

The highest honorary and academic recognition given by this University was unanimously bestowed upon the Cuban President for the exemplary international political stance to promote dialogue and understanding between various currents of the continent.
Also, for the correct policy of the Cuban government in the creation of harmonizing forums such as Petrocaribe, ALBA and Caricom, through which Cuba promotes solidarity programs aimed at improving the education and health of the peoples, as pointed out by the supporting document.
In his words of acknowledgment, the rector of the higher education center, Gustavo Garcia, said that President Raul Castro was capable of reestablishing relations with the United States without relinquishing the dignity and the principles of the Revolution.
Meanwhile, the First Vice-president of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, who received the award on behalf of President Raul Castro, stressed that it is a symbol of friendship and of the historic similarities between the peoples of Cuba and Panama.
