Cuba, Canada and U.S. secure prizes at Hemingway billfish eventHAVANA, Cuba, Jun 17 (acn) Cuba, Canada and the U.S. already secured their prizes at the 66th Ernest Hemingway International Billfish Tournament, underway in Havana with the participation of over 90 boats from nine countries.

US Barefoot and Blue Heron crews garnered two trophies following their first capture of a marlin and a sea bream by the tag and release technique, according to Marlin S.A. company.
The title for the largest fish went to the Cuban crew Doris, while Canada´s Sofia D took the title to the first capture, which was done by a woman.
During the first two days of the competition, the crews have tagged 51 marlins, 47 of which were done by US crews.
This is considered the largest event of its kind with crews from Lithuania, Argentina, Russia, Holland, the U.K., Mexico, Puerto Rico, Spain, Italy and France.
The fishing boats will operate till June 18 on the Cuban western Coast to secure the cup of the competition in honor to US author Ernest Hemingway, who was the pioneer of the Billfish tournament back in the 1950s.
