HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 14 (acn) Cuba´s Labor and Social Security Minister, Margarita Gonzalez Fernandez highlighted on Monday in Havana during the plenary session of the International Workers Conference that the updating of the island´s economic model´s objective is constructing a prosperous, sustainable and irreversible socialism for all.
According to CubaMinrex website, the Cuban Minister added that the process is underway under the premise of preserving the social achievements and principles of justice and equality of the Revolution mainly benefited by the working class.
She also referred to the advances in the elimination of all forms of labor discrimination and the expansion in the benefits of social security to all workers.
The Minister indicated that the Cuban State dedicates over 70 percent of its annual budget to guarantee health, education and social security services to its workers in particular women and young people.
She recalled that these results have been accomplished despite the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US against Cuba making it difficult for the economic development of the island and affecting the wellbeing of the workers and family.
Margarita Gonzalez Fernandez dedicated spaces of her speech to the main issues contained in the documents which will be examined in their plenary session and stressed that in order to comply with the objectives in promoting decent work and production including the 2030 Agenda for the country´s Sustainable Development we must advance towards a just and equitable international order to eradicate poverty and hunger, end war and prioritize humanity.
