HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 9 (acn) The National Transit Board of the Cuban Police informed on Wednesday in Havana that there have been 3 thousand 702 traffic accidents in the first four months of the year.
The figure increased in 118 cases compared to the same period last year including 244 deaths with that number reduced in 11 related to 2015 according to police reports.
They added that those injured rose to 2 thousand 792, increasing in 119 compared to the same period last year.
The National Transit Board pointed out that the general causes are not respecting the right of way, control of the vehicle and not abiding to the traffic lights, excess of speed, pedestrian violations, driving under the influence of alcohol among others.
The report was informed with details including the type of accidents like car collision while driving or not, cars turning over, hitting a pedestrian or animal, cyclist and others.
Unfortunately these accidents include busses, trucks, motorcycles, jeeps, bikes, taxis, and ambulance.
Its victims were drivers of vehicles and motorcycles in addition to passengers of both whose ages range from 0 to 4 years or 70 and older.
In relation with the institutions implied are the Ministries of Transport, Agriculture, Construction, Education, AZCUBA, Food, Basic, Health, Tourism, Light Industry, Communications, People's Power and Hydraulic Resources as well as non-state vehicles.
