Panama Expresses at ACS Summit Solidarity with Venezuela

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 4 (acn) Juan Carlos Varela, President of Panama, sent today from this capital a message of solidarity to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for being subjected to a process of external interference.
We hope that in Venezuela a peaceful solution through dialogue is found, one that guarantees constitutional order in that nation, asserted the Panamanian statesman in his speech at the high level segment of the Seventh Summit of the Association of States Caribbean (AEC), held at Havana’s Palacio de la Revolucion.
Varela also expressed his confidence that the peace talks in Havana between the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army and the Government of that country conclude successfully.
He suggested finding common alternatives in the region mainly to global warming and extreme weather changes causing the loss of thousands of lives and considerable economic damage, particularly for being a threat to sources of supply of food and drinking water.
Varela invited participants in the meeting to the opening ceremony, on 26 June, of the extension works of the Panama Canal project, an inter-oceanic waterway for navigation between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
