The Caribbean is determined to make progress and achieve prosperity. The agenda of this summit acquires indisputable relevance for allowing us to achieve a single voice in the international arena and demonstrate our strength as a region, he added.
The president of El Salvador pointed out that the ravages of climate change and its impact show that it is an unavoidable challenge, a threat in the face of which we must promote technology transfer to strengthen mitigation capabilities.
We must boost sustainable growth while preserving at the same time ecosystems, work on energy diversification, the application of renewable energy sources and promote sustainable tourism as reflected in the Declaration of the Summit and its Plan of Action, he urged.
In addition, he said that El Salvador is committed to the implementation of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development; it intends to sign an agreement with the United Nations to implement that agenda and suggested sharing the best experiences through South-South cooperation.
