Caribbean high level officials negotiate Declaration of HavanaHAVANA, Cuba, Jun 2 (acn) The High Level Representatives Meeting, a preparation for the Ministerial Council of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) is devoted to negotiating the Declaration of Havana and its Plan of Action.

The draft of the Declaration to be discussed this Thursday is the third version of said document, based on 163 proposals and suggestions, Cuban Foreign deputy Minister Abelardo Moreno explained at the beginning of the working sessions.

In the Convections Center of Havana, which is the venue of the Seventh ACS Summit, Moreno urged participants to work diligently in the proposals in order to have it the document ready on time for the approval of the heads of state and government next Saturday.

An integral part and highlight of the Summit, is the adoption and signing of the Declaration, whereby regional Leaders reaffirm, commit and instruct for the successful undertaking of proposed policies, positions and actions outlined in the document.

Following the Signing of the Convention establishing the Association of Caribbean States, ACS, on July 24th, 1994, the Inaugural Summit of ACS Heads of State and or Government was held in August 1995, in Port of Spain, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Host Country to the Association.
