HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 2 (acn) Japan´s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received Cuba´s First Vice-President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who is on an official visit to the Asian nation.
According to Prensa Latina news agency, both leaders agreed to continue strengthening the bilateral relations in politics, trade and economy.
Diaz-Canel thanked Abe for the meeting and forwarded a message from the Cuban President Raul Castro inviting the Japanese premier to visit the Caribbean nation, whenever his working agenda allows it.
The Cuban official thanks Japan for its support to Cuba´s demand for the lifting of the over 50 year long US economic, financial and commercial blockade.
They also discussed the new economic scenario in Cuba and the opportunities for Japanese companies to invest in Cuba. Abe highlighted the role played by the Japan-Cuba Friendship Parliamentary League in the promotion of bilateral links, and agreed on the importance of increasing Japanese investments in Cuba
