Agrocadenas Project complete first stage in Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, May 30 (acn) The identification of problems that prevent the proper functioning of production chains in the Cuban agricultural sector locally marked the end of the first stage of the project Agrocadenas.

The strategy implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG) in 13 municipalities for milk, beans, corn and beef will sustainably enable to increase production.
Maruchi Alonso Esquivel, Director General of the project, told ACN that representatives of the food industry, domestic trade, collection, producers and local governments identified their problems and proposed actions to increase efficiency of the process.
The revitalization of collection centers and the construction of small mini-industries in each territory to face the peaks of crops and the need to adapt seeds to the conditions of soil and climate in each region are among proposals.
She stressed that now everyone sees as his every problem associated with the value chain and prioritize immediate solution in order not to stagnate or dilate compliance with the plans of the participating entities.
It is a new way of thinking and acting in which all are benefited by teamwork, the expert expressed.
She recalled that style of work responds to one of the priorities of the national economy reflected in the documents of the Sixth Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba aimed at strengthening the role of the socialist enterprise and its efficient link with other bodies in society.
Agrocadenas represents a contribution to the efforts of the Cuban government for strengthening the links of the production, industrial processing and final product commercialization.
The second stage of the project includes the selection of the best proposals facilitating supplies, equipment and technical and managerial expertise.
