HAVANA, Cuba, May 27 (acn) The Chairman of the State Duma (lower house of the Federal Assembly of Russia) Serguei Naryshkin, said his country highly values the strategic relations with Cuba, during a meeting with First Vice-president Miguel Diaz-Canel.
Naryshkin told the Cuban leader and his accompanying delegation, that current relations show the strategic character of the collaboration between Cuba and Russia, in the meeting held at the Duma´s venue.
He added that Cuba shows that relations with Russia are of high priority and ¨do not depend on political circumstances¨. He said Cuba is a strong ally, and trustworthy and lasting partner of Russia.
Also, the Russian lawmaker said the bilateral trade relations are successful and on the rise.
On the Russian part were the Duma´s First Vice-president Iván Melnikov and the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee Alexéi Pushkov
Cuba´s deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra and Ambassador to Russia Emilio Losada were on the Cuban side.
