HAVANA, Cuba, May 19 (acn) The twelfth imported case of a patient with Zika virus has been diagnosed, corresponding to a 41-year-old Cuban citizen living in the municipality of Guira de Melena, Artemisa province, who arrived in the country on May 10 from Guyana, where she traveled for personal reasons.
The patient shows generalized rash, accompanied by muscle pain without fever. She went to the Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine Institute (IPK) the following day and, after assessing her case, her admission was decided. Tests were made for study and on Tuesday, May 17, the IPK laboratory reported the patient was positive for Zika virus.
She is currently asymptomatic and her general condition is good with favorable evolution, and continues to be hospitalized.
