HAVANA, Cuba, May 9 (acn) Cuban wrestlers will attend a training base in Azerbaijan this month as training for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, next August.
Raul Trujillo, head coach of the Greco-Roman men's team, told ACN they will possibly travel on May 16 to continue training together with Azerbaijani athletes.
I think it will be beneficial for us because those athletes have much experience and competitive level, so it will be important to seize that opportunity, he said.
The list of 10 Cuban wrestlers is headed by Mijail Lopez (130 kg), double Olympic champion and five-time world monarch.
It also highlights Ismael Borrero (59 kilos) last year's world champion; and Miguel Martinez (66), Yurisandy Hernandez (75) and Yasmany Lugo (98).
Javier Duménico (59), Alexander Casals (66), Gilberto Piquet (85), Reinier Monteagudo (98) and Keldi Josef (130) complete the group.
The Caribbean nation has already won five seats in Greco-Roman wrestling for the Olympics, and the same amount in the men's freestyle modality.
