Russian Media Stresses Support by Fidel Castro of Chernobyl Victims

HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 26 (acn) Russia´s Rossiya 24 TV channel stressed on Tuesday the welcome given by Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro to the first group of victims of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, when they arrived in Havana for treatment.

Announcing a feature on the issue for today, Rossiya 24 underscored the support of the Cuban people to the humanitarian program which included 24 thousand people, out of whom 20 thousand 423 were kids, according to a report by Radio Havana Cuba.

The Caribbean nation was among the first countries to help the Ukrainian people with a program that during 21 years of operations saved the lives of thousands of children.
