Raul Castro Reelected as First Secretary of the PCC

HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 19 (acn) The first plenary session of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party reelected Army General Raul Castro in the position of First Secretary and Jose Ramon Machado Ventura as Second Secretary.

The decision was announced at the closing session of the 7th Cuban Communist Party Congress which was attended by the historic leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro.
For three days, nearly a thousand delegates and 280 guests reached a consensus on the main documents and resolutions of the four working committees, and in plenary meeting participants approved on Monday a resolution on the Central Report presented by Army General Raul Castro during the opening session.
