HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 1 (acn) Salvador Valdes, Vice-president of the Council of State, received Omar Mansour, Special Envoy of the President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Minister for Latin America and the Caribbean, who was the bearer of a message from President Mohamed Abdelaziz to Army General Raul Castro, President of the Cuban Councils of State and Ministers.
The Granma newspaper reported on Tuesday that, in a fraternal atmosphere, Valdes and Mansour talked on Monday about the smooth progress of bilateral relations and highlighted the 40th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, commemorated on February 27.
The visitor thanked the cooperation given by Cuba throughout these years and the Cuban Vice-president reiterated the firm solidarity with the cause of the Sahrawi people.
Accompanying the Special Envoy was Malainine Etkana, Ambassador of the SADR to Cuba, while Cuba was also represented at the meeting by Orlando Requeijo, director of North Africa and Middle East of the Foreign Ministry, and Clara Pulido, coordinator for Africa and Middle East of the International Department of the Cuban Communist Party.
