HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 22 (acn) Cuba's Telecommunications Company, ETECSA, in the province of Camaguey has an investment program this year in the area to improve the quality of its cell and internet service aimed at benefiting its clients and society in general.
The company is aimed at incorporating new radio bases to the 38 already in the territory in 2016 of which 6 will be installed in the city, one in the town of Altagracia and others in the municipality of Nuevt6as and Esmeralda.
Regarding internet, two new pubic Wi-Fi areas will be included in the plan, one in the municipality of Carlos Manuel de Cespedes and two more in the future technological park of the Cultural Recreational Youth Complex and in areas of the Casino Campestre Park.
In the areas of state institutions the current access will slowly be expanded belonging to public health, education and the Ministry of Justice and Tourism depending on the country's economic possibilities.
Jesus Baladron, director of the ETECSA branch in Camaguey said a reduction of the prices of the service will depend on the investments in the technological platform.
He added that internet access from the homes constitutes one of the company's objectives but a larger infrastructure is first necessary in order to comply with the plan although studies are already underway where certain areas can already begin with the project.
One of the major demands of the population will not be significant this year and the company will main center in maintenance and reparation of existing networks for the recovery of terminals.
ETECSA in Camaguey closed 2015 with over 197 thousand active cell lines and over 122 thousand nauta internet service that also needs expansion.
