HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 22 (acn) The general secretary of the Organization of Ibero American States for Education, Science and Culture, Paulo Speller said that the first 500 Paulo Freire Scholarships are opened for those interested in obtaining this Project.
In statements to ACN, Speller pointed out that this educational program is exclusively destined for students and teachers of pedagogical universities.
He added that the project was proposed by the institution and approved by the Summit of Heads of States and Government held in Mexico in 2014 where they also discussed academic exchanges.
The directive expressed that Brazil, Spain and Mexico will finance the enrollment although the scholarships is also sustained with the support of the social foundations in favor of human development.
He emphasized that an increase in the number of enrollments in the coming years are expected because this project includes among its goals agreed on during the last Ibero American Summit where one of the commitments constitutes the creation of 200 thousand scholarships for 2020.
Speller who participated in the 10 th Universidad 2016 International Congress referred to the importance in sharing knowledge and assured that taking courses in other countries also implies learning about other cultures, language and the objective of transmitting the know how to their nation of origin.
with the objective of socializing the theories of popular education, the scholarships is called Paulo Freire (1921-1977), in honor of the renowned Brazilian intellectual who highlighted the rights of all social classes to education.
