HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 19 (acn) Diplomats from Lebanon and Cuba highlighted today in Beirut the good state of bilateral relations, during a meeting in which the local Foreign Ministry promoted the Third World Congress of Lebanese Émigrés scheduled for May, Prensa Latina reports.
Charbel Jebe, head of the Political and Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants and Rene Ceballo, Cuban ambassador to Beirut, discussed issues of common interest.
In a friendly and fraternal atmosphere, the meeting served to take stock of ties between Havana and Beirut, strengthened in 2015 with visits by top officials of both countries.
Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil was in Cuba a year ago, and months later a business delegation, while Rodrigo Malmierca, Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, was received in October in Beirut by top governmental officials.
Wehbe gave Ceballo an official invitation for a delegation of the island to visit Lebanon in the first half of May and participate in the aforementioned meeting of Lebanese émigrés, organized every year by the Foreign Ministry of this Arab nation.
