Diaz-Canel Holds Official Talks with the Vice-president of UruguayHAVANA, Cuba, Feb 13 (acn) The First Vice-president of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel, met on Friday afternoon with the Vice-president of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Raul Fernando Sendic, who is on an official visit to Cuba.

During the fraternal meeting, both leaders verified the good state of bilateral relations, especially the positive progress of cooperation in various spheres, and reiterated their willingness to continue strengthening them, on the basis of the compliance with the Bi-national Plan agreed by Presidents Tabare Vazquez and Raul Castro during the visit of the latter to Montevideo in March.
They also talked about the participation of Uruguay in the 25th International Book Fair, which this time is dedicated to the South American country, and tackled other issues on the regional and international agendas.
Accompanying the distinguished visitor were Danilo Astori, Minister of Economy and Finance; Ana Olivera, First Deputy Minister of Social Development; Ariel Bergamino, Uruguay's ambassador to Cuba; and Daniel Fernandez, assistant to the Vice-president.
Cuba was represented at the meeting by Rogelio Sierra and Amelia Morales, deputy ministers of Foreign Affairs and Planning and the Economy, respectively, and by other Foreign Ministry officials.
