HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 17 (acn) Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers, held a meeting on Sunday night with representatives of the delegations of the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army (FARC-EP) present in Havana at the peace negotiating table.
In a constructive atmosphere, they spoke about the progress of the talks taking place in the Cuban capital and the shared interest to continue moving forward to reach an agreement to end the over 50-year conflict in the shortest time possible, and achieve a stable and lasting peace in Colombia.
Both delegations conveyed comrade Raul their gratitude for the valuable support of Cuba to the process, in its capacity as host and guarantor of the talks.
Participating in the meeting, representing the Colombian government, was Humberto de la Calle, head of the delegation to the Negotiating Table; Sergio Jaramillo, High Commissioner for Peace; and Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin.
The FARC-EP were represented by the commanders and members of the Secretariat Ivan Marquez, head of the delegation to the Negotiating Table, and two of its members, Pastor Alape and Carlos Antonio Lozada.
The Army General was accompanied by the Minister and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez and Rogelio Sierra, respectively; and by the head of delegation of Guarantors, Rodolfo Benitez.
