Mujica to Give Lecture in Cuba at 2016 Edition of Casa Literary Prize

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 11 (acn) Former Uruguayan President Jose Mujica will travel to Havana in late January to give a lecture during the 57th edition of the Casa de las Americas Literary Prize.

The presentation is scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday, January 26, at the Casa de las Americas cultural institution in Havana, admission free, Cubasi reported over the weekend.
According to essayist Jorge Fornet, director of the Center for Literary Research of Casa, the participation of the Uruguayan president will be "a special moment," particularly his presence in a hall Mario Benedetti and Eduardo Galeano "filled with public" during their visits to Cuba.
"We have given him freedom to talk about whatever he wants, but he will probably refer to the moment Latin America is living and his vision of this process," said Fornet.
For this edition, more than 300 works will compete in the categories of short story, theater, artistic-literary essay, Brazilian and Caribbean literature in French or Creole, and studies on the native cultures of the Americas.
