HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 18 (acn) Most of the non-state sector of the economy in the province of Camaguey wastes training opportunities in the field of quality management freely offered by specialists of Territorial Standardization Bureau (OTN by its Spanish acronym).
Roberto Vasconcelos, head of the OTN Department of Metrology and Quality, told ACN that despite outreach efforts through the press and the unions in this sector, attendance of self-employed to the workshops they are conducting is very low.
The specialist listed among the possible causes of this problem the inefficient communication strategy, in addition to lack of control and demands on compliance by the inspectorate of the responsible agencies.
He said it is pitiful low participation in seminars related to the correct processing and sale of food on the street, as there have happened already negative health and hygiene incidents in the province because of poor management of these products.
In the case of small and medium-sized businesses and non-agricultural cooperatives, it is also needed further requirement of training by state agencies to achieve the implementation of systems of sustainable development, he said.
After approval by the Board of Directors in this province of quality programs in business, OTN increased the number of training meetings this year.
Course of mass measurements and use of instruments for weighing, best practices for food safety, and management for small and medium organizations, among others, were given this year.
This Office obtained the current year the accreditation of its inspection body by the National Accreditation Body of the Republic of Cuba, according to International Standard NC ISO 17020, which provides foreign recognition and technical competitiveness to the results of the checks.
