Salvador Valdes Mesa Receives South African Communist Party Delegation

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec. 16 (acn) Salvador Valdes Mesa, Politburo member and Vice-president of the Council of State, received comrade Blade Nzimande, Secretary General of the South African Communist Party and Minister of Education of the neighboring nation, who is in Cuba heading a delegation of his Party for a program of exchanges with the Cuban Communist Party.

During the fraternal meeting, held on Wednesday afternoon, the South African leader expressed his satisfaction for being back in Cuba, thanked the Cuban people for the solidarity it has historically shown for the struggle of the South African people and particularly recalled the internationalists fallen in the fight against the opprobrious apartheid system.
They also talked about the present and the future of cooperation between the two countries and parties, based on the concept that it should be mutually beneficial.
Also participating in the meeting were the Deputy Secretary General of the South African Communist Party, Solly Mapaila, and Deputy Coordinator Thulas Nxesi, among other South African political leaders. Cuba was also represented by Jose Ramon Balaguer, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee and head of its International Relations Department, and other Party officials.
