Havana and Washington will keep claims talksHAVANA, Cuba, Dec 9 (acn) Cuba and the United States expressed their willingness to keep on with their bilateral dialog on the expropriations of US property after 1959 and the damage inflicted on the Cuban people by the over-50-year US blockade of the island.

During a Tuesday bilateral meeting on the issue, the two sides exchanged information on pending mutual compensations related to the issues, according to the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, which ran in a respectful and professional environment, Cuba presented the background of its claims, particularly the demand by the Cuban people for human and economic damage already acknowledged by the country´s courts.

The two sides agreed to continue holding meetings on the issue, the Cuban Foreign Ministry said.

The Cuban delegation was headed by deputy foreign minister Abelardo Moreno and the US delegation was headed by Mary McLeod, deputy legal advisor of the US State Department.
