HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 1 (acn) Cuba and Vietnam held in Hanoi, capital of that Asian country, the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, proud of the history of these links, constantly advancing.
According to Prensa Latina, the development of these ties was widely discussed by Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member and head of the Department of Propaganda and Education of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the Cuban ambassador Herminio Lopez, who agreed to highlight the mutual support in difficult times as important aspects of relations between the two nations.
Emotive was Huynh´s message when he said that every Vietnamese remembers the phrase of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, when he said: "We are ready to give even our own blood for Vietnam", as an expression that sums up the solidarity of that people with this nation.
He also recalled that Cuba led the movement to support Vietnam in the war against the US invasion.
We are fully convinced that today and future generations will continue this fine tradition and write new pages to increasingly deepen the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, contributing thus practically and effectively to the cause of building and defending each country, he said.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Herminio Lopez stressed that these ties have withstood the test of time and the vagaries of international situation" when recalling that together we have overcome the difficulties and shared joys.
He added that the existence of ties between distant nations and with different traditions can be explained as a result of authentically humanist and popular essence of their respective revolutions, sustained by a common commitment to build socialism, promote social justice and defend independence and sovereignty.
Lopez thanked Vietnam also by the support to Cuba in resisting the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States and said: "we are proud of the excellent state of relations between our two peoples, States, Parties and governments.
Other moments of this story were evoked in the political-cultural ceremony such as the fact that the Cuban government was the first to recognize the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam and the creation of a Committee of Solidarity with that territory, first of its kind in the world and founded by Heroine Melba Henández in 1963.
This event at the National University of Hanoi was attended by Trinh Dinh Dung, Minister of Construction and co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission, members of the Foreign Ministry and Vu Xuan Hong, president of the Union of Vietnam Friendship Organizations, and Phung Xuan Nha, principal of the educational institution.
